Sustainable design as a collective, conscious and sexy message
The event brings, from the start, a reflection on the feeling of community, according to which we are all connected. The central idea is that individual actions can impact the lives of thousands of people. And what would be the role of architecture and design in this synergistic concept? How can our community make a positive contribution to this situation?

Alex Atala, speaking of the link between gastronomy and design, affirms that this interaction takes place “through ergonomics, design, presentation and seduction”. From this point of view, the design of his kitchen is described by him as natural and instinctive, resulting from an implicit harmony.
With this objective of providing functional and sustainable cuisine, the partnership between the chef and the brand was born. Portobello co-create a line of porcelain kitchen coverings, where it is put into practice the concept that sustainable design should be sexy and appeal to the public.
Humberto Campana, co-founder of Campana studio with his brother Fernando, speaking about sustainability in reframing materials and ideashighlights the reuse of materials collected in the immediate surroundings to make its pieces. His enduring consciousness is linked to the idea of “transforming a banal thing into a false brilliance”.
The female presence in architecture, design and user experience
Secondly, the event starts from the awareness that the The architecture and design market is still predominantly male. In this scenario, women still need to gain more space, which poses a challenge. To contribute to the discussion, they participated in the conference A UX designer Nina Talks and architects and urban planners Gab de Matos and Patrícia from DOMA Arquiteturaall online content creators.

The idea shared by all the speakers is that by gaining space influencer In the digital world, it is extremely important Position yourself as a source of inspiration so that other women can gain space in the job market.
Nina Talks says the idea for a YouTube channel came to her when she realized the lack of female authorities in UX (design field that deals with the user experience of digital products), as well as professionals who were just starting out: there was only the presence of big names already established in the field.
Gab de Matos highlighted her representation not only as a woman, but also as a black woman. Your project Black architects started with a form intended for others black women architects and their difficulties working in the world of design and architecture due to lack of representation.
In this way, Gab met her community, discovered (and shared) their suffering and produced a book. Today, from what started with Arquitetas Negras, she explains that there are more 700 black architects linked together.
Patrícia Pomerantzeff, from DOMA Arquitetura, talks about your experience of stereotypes in the world of architecturedepicting the time she was asked to create a YouTube channel with the imprint DIY (do it yourself). But his intention was different: She wanted to show her reality in the work. That’s when he ended up receiving a No so as not to have a “boy’s face”. But when he said no, his response was, “It’s wonderful that we got a no, because we’re going out there and doing it,” and that’s exactly what happened.
She is always highlights feminine sensitivity and intuition as a differentiator at work. Concerning the difficulties of acting in this male world, she highlights her early motherhood as a challenge, because university professors did not understand it and told her to choose between studies and life as a mother. However, she was categorical: “I can be whatever I want, together and at the same time. tempo”.
Regarding the concept of sustainability, Gab de Matos explains that the collective’s perspective, from an African point of view, greatly influenced Brazilian architecture, a fact little known today. She illustrates it through the Ubuntu concept: “I am because we are”. which translates in society, according to her, into a view of everything and everyone.
Art as resignifying moments and perspectives
Vik Muniz, Brazilian artist and photographer, brings a powerful message: art has the power to take us out of our routine and see from other angles and perspectives. The artist also emphasizes that the materials he uses are “a pretext to enter into a new process”, which ends up becoming a new cycle of learning. When he learns what art would be, for example, he declares that art humanizes and has the power to change people’s perceptions of themselves.
